HADLEIGH United hosted this annual representative game and both sides were fully committed throughout.
The Border League started well and were camped in the opposition half for the first 15 minutes with several chances going begging.
The SIL gradually got themselves organised and, after 17 minutes, Ross Pemberton's header went wide of the post before Harper shot wide when the keeper miskicked in front of goal. Lee Osborn's swerving shot was turned aside by the Border League keeper.
However, after 40 minutes, Graham Stiff's header from a corner was flicked in from close range by Darren Harper and, three minutes later, the same player tried his luck from all of 25 yards and the ball flew over the keeper to give the visitors a 2-0 lead at half-time.
With both sides able to introduce several subs, it was the Border League who finished the stronger and scored in the 85th and 88th minutes through Rob Thompson (Alresford Colne Rangers) and Rob Whitley (University of Essex) to share the spoils.
