COLCHESTER United boss Aidy Boothroyd admits his side got what they deserved after throwing away a two-goal lead at rock-bottom Stockport.

Substitute Ian Henderson saw a shot hit the underside of the bar and come inches away from clearing the line at the end, but Boothroyd - who switched to a defensive 4-5-1 formation in the second half - admits his side did not deserve all three points

"If that shot had gone in at the end it might have covered up a few cracks," said Boothroyd.

"I'm disappointed, but I have no complaints. In the second half we were dominated and that can't happen to a team that's pushing for promotion.

"To go two goals up away from home we'd expect to finish the game off, especially with the record and players we've got.

"Unfortunately though their two centre-backs have dominated our two centre-forwards and our two forwards have failed to dominate their two centre-backs.

"Yes, we have blown it today, but this is just one little battle blown - we have got a war to win."
