EIGHT swimmers from Stowmarket Swimming Club won a magnificent 24 medals at the Norfolk Masters sprints meet held at Thetford on Saturday. Representing Stowmarket for the first time was the dynamic Kate Davis and Lithuanian superstar Arturas Radziunas.

EIGHT swimmers from Stowmarket Swimming Club won a magnificent 24 medals at the Norfolk Masters sprints meet held at Thetford on Saturday.

Representing Stowmarket for the first time was the dynamic Kate Davis and Lithuanian superstar Arturas Radziunas.

Davis won two golds in her 30-34 years 50 metres front crawl (31.30) and 100m individual medley (1.19.69), while Radziunas won gold in his 30-34yrs 50m fly (32.56) and two silvers in the 50m front crawl and 100m IM.

Meanwhile, the seasoned campaigners also did the club proud.

Clive Mitson won gold in the 35-39yrs back (36.15) and two silvers in his 50m breast and 100m IM.

Bobbie Wilson, competing for the first time since having a back operation, swam in all five events in the 65-69yrs group, winning gold in the 100m IM (2.36.78), silvers in the 50m fly and 50m breast, as well as two bronzes. Wilson also swam her fastest time in the fly for several years.

Sue Holdich had a clean sweep of the silver medals in her four events in the 60-64yrs 50m back, breast, front and 100m IM, while Andy Wright had two second places (back and front crawl) and two thirds (fly and IM) in the 50-54yrs age category.

Leesa Woollard came second in the 50m breast and third in the 100m IM, while Peter Lynch also won silver in his 50m 45-49yrs front.
