HELSINGBORGS coach Nanne Bergstrand is hoping to be at Portman Road tomorrow to spy on his side's UEFA Cup second round opponents.

The Swedes came out of the hat with Ipswich in Friday's draw and Bergstrand immediately set about booking flights to England.

He said: "We will probably travel to Ipswich and see them this weekend. They have two more league games to play before we will meet them."

Bergstrand was satisfied with the draw and added: "It's an interesting challenge for us. We are traditionally good against English teams.

"Helsingborgs have beaten Aston Villa and could have eliminated Chelsea in the Cup Winners' Cup as well."

The Swedes KO'd Villa in the UEFA Cup in 1996 and they did it the hard way, drawing 0-0 at home and 1-1 at Villa Park to sneak through on the away goals rule.

Three years ago they went down to a Frank Leboeuf goal at Stamford Bridge, with the Londoners holding out for a goalless draw in the return game.

Ipswich are by no means an unknown quantity to Bergstrand, who added: "All English teams are well known in Sweden as the Premiership is shown live on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

"I've seen them on television a few times. They played really well last year and finished fifth as a newcomer. They got much credit for their great spell, but this year they have had more problems.

"The best draw for us, economically, may have been Freiburg since we would have got a lot of television money. But I think Ipswich is a good draw, if you look at it economically as well as the fact that we have a chance to go through."
