THE Norfolk and Suffolk Veterans League is up and running again this season – and growing in strength.

It now has four divisions with six sides in each. A knock-out Cup competition is also being played.

In the newly formed Division 3 (South) all the teams are Ipswich based. There is also a Suffolk/Ipswich interest in the other three divisions.

This shows the increasing number of players who are extending their playing careers into their late thirties ands forties. Some players are also into their fifties.

The league's first results were:

Division 1: Lowestoft Railway 2 Poringland 2, Reydon Rovers 2 Spixworth 8.

Division 2: Cromer 4 Silfield 3, Corton Vets 4 Usual Suspects (Ipswich) 1.

Division 3 (North): Archant 0 Hempnall 4, Buxton Saints 3 Trowel & Hammer (Lowestoft) 0, Corton Academy 2 Waveney Hearts 2.

Division 3 (South): Bramford 3 Hollesley Bay 3, Claydon 2 Coplestonians 4, Royal Hospital School (Holbrook) 0 Witnesham Wasps 0.
