The Illegal Eagles are perennial favourites at the Regent, bringing country rock to Ipswich where it seems to have found a home.
This year it’s their 20th Anniversary Tour; they were out to impress and give the audience a good time.
The band took the stage to Journey Of The Sorcerer - which many may remember was used as the theme tune for The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - four guitars up front, drums and a keyboard.
Right from the off they hit a mellow groove, starting with How Long, Busy Being Fabulous and Peaceful Easy Feeling, switching vocalists with each song, just as The Eagles did originally.
During the evening they also switched instruments seamlessly, showing great proficiency.
Throughout the night we heard songs from across all the albums and also some of the solo material of Joe Walsh, Glen Frey and Don Henley; and not just the hits. Ol’ 55 went down particularly well.
To stop it becoming one paced they threw in faster tracks like Already Gone and James Dean; trading guitar licks as they went.

If I had one criticism it was that the stage was kept dimly lit, perhaps for effect, but I would have liked more of a light show.
Hotel California started the second set, Mike Baker playing a double-necked guitar.
Lying Eyes was used for the obligatory sing-a-long, and Boys Of Summer had us all on our feet.
The band played for two hours and 30 minutes, great value.
Eventually the encore came and we were treated to an extended version of Life In The Fast Lane and Desperado to finish. Great show.
