A picture of Luke Durbin, who disappeared in Ipswich in 2006, appeared on the big screen behind the Missing People Choir as it wowed judges in the Britain’s Got Talent semi-final tonight.
The group, which has in its membership Luke’s mother Nicki Durbin, went sailing through to the final round after topping the public vote.
Giving feedback after the performance, Alesha Dixon said: “I want you guys to be in that final because I think this message is so important.
“This is how to use the platform of Britain’s Got Talent responsibly. I’m rooting for every single one of you.”
Amanda Holden added: “If we find just one person from that video that would make a difference.”
Outside of the show, Simon Cowell has revealed he is also “rooting” for the Missing People Choir to go all in the way in Britain’s Got Talent.
Nicki joined the choir last year, but she is not believed to have appeared on the ITV show to date.
Speaking about this year’s competition on BBC Radio 2’s Steve Wright In The Afternoon, Cowell said: “I think there will be a lot of expectation on Missing People’s Choir.
“I do know they’ve got a great song and I know they got a big reaction but I think this is going to be a better performance.”
He added: “I’m rooting for them.”
Missing People Choir will now fight against Stowmarket magician Matt Edwards for the title.
