A little bit of Sunshine on Leith was in Ipswich on a misty evening tonight as Scottish band The Proclaimers came to the Regent.

Edinburgh twins Charlie and Craig Reid, supported by four band members, started their 90-minute performance with a string vocal performance, helped by telling the near-capacity crowd how much they enjoyed coming to the town of the Football League champions the year they were born (1962).

In Ipswich as part of their 35-date UK and Ireland tour ‘Let’s Hear it for the Dogs’, they had travelled more than 500 miles already between venues, not that you would have known as they moved from song to song without taking much of a breather.

There was a welcome mix of new songs, from their album of the same name as the tour, and old favourites including ‘Letter from America’, ‘Let’s Get Married’ and ‘I’m on my Way’.

As they ended with possibly their most popular hit ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 miles), the twins and their band received a well deserved standing ovation before returning for an encore just as popular.

I’m sure I’m not the only one hoping they don’t leave it too long before they’re back in Ipswich.
