Simply the Best Tina Turner Tribute - Spa Pavilion Felixstowe, Saturday March 22

Tribute Acts seemed to have gained a new lease of popularity after the BBC reality programme The One and Only.

Of course, they vary in quality but lets face it, for many of us this is the closest we are going to get to the real thing.

Suzette Dorsey's tribute act - Simply the Best - had a lot to live up to recreating the mesmerising Tina Turner on a very cold night in Felixstowe.

She certainly had two energetic dancers on stage with her to help - one of which opened the show with a couple of powerful numbers herself.

And a competent backing band to give some depth to the music.

Suzette herself has a very good voice, and gave accurate covers of most of Tina's most famous numbers - Steamy Windows, River Deep, Proud Mary, Private Dancer and of course Simply the Best.

Even though she was obviously suffering from a throat problem, she belted out the songs with passion.

And even did a couple of duets with a stand in Bryan Adams.

However, even though the basic look was right, I'm afraid this is a Tina that has passed her prime.

I don't know how long she has been touring this act but her website shows someone slim and long legged - this Tina was a little more weighty and she seemed to be struggling with the dance moves - made more obvious by the talent of her on stage dancers.

But give the girl her due, she performed a good hour set, and the intrepid Spa audience were dancing in the aisles themselves towards the end.

Not a bad way to spend a cold Saturday night.
