A man who was taken to hospital following a serious crash on the A14 between Ipswich and Felixstowe earlier this week remains in a critical condition.

Emergency services, including two air ambulances, were called to the crash in the eastbound carriageway close to the Seven Hills Interchange at about 7am on Monday.

The crash involved a car and a lorry, Suffolk police said.

The eastbound carriageway was closed between junction 58 and 59 while emergency services attended the scene of the crash.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that the man was in a "life-threatening condition".

A spokesman for Suffolk police said on Friday afternoon that he remained in a critical condition following the incident.

The road reopened at about 1pm on Monday - almost six hours after the crash was first reported.

Felixstowe School was also forced to close due to staffing issues as a number of teachers were unable to get into work as a result of the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage of the area is asked to contact the Joint Norfolk & Suffolk Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting incident reference number 37/5812/23.
