Further details have been released about a new flat due to be created above a shop in the centre of town.

An application was first received by Ipswich Borough Council in August last year to create a two-bedroom flat above the Orange Shop in Norwich Road.

The shop was formerly home to a halal butchery.

However, revised plans have now been submitted, showing that the apartment would be a self-contained one-bedroom flat.

The latest first-floor plans show that the rear of the space will be a kitchen and living area.

A bathroom will be added, whilst the front of the space will be taken up by a bedroom and a retained area for cycle and general storage.

Alterations will be made to the shop front to create an access door on the ground floor.

These plans were approved by the council on April 25.

This update comes shortly after the news that if approved, a £900,000 revamp of Arras Squre could offer a boost to the town, and help with the launch of a new music venue.
