Two major restaurant chains have closed their doors on the outskirts of town, with all signage and branding removed.

Mexican restaurant Chiquito and American/Italian chain Frankie & Benny's have both closed their restaurants in the Ravenswood area of Ipswich.

Signage has been removed from both, and black tape has gone up to cover the company logos.

Chiquito closed on August 26, while Frankie & Benny's closed on July 29.

Frankie & Benny's announced in March that it was closing 35 stores around the country but did not confirm the Ravenswood branch's closing date at the time.

The Restaurant Group (TRG) which owns both chains, announced in March that it wanted to boost earnings by closing loss-making locations.

There is now no longer any Chiquito or Frankie & Benny's eateries left in Suffolk.

A sign on the door of the chain says: 'The time has come to bid farewell.

'The team here sends genuine gratitude to all of our guests both old and new.'

A similar sign up in Chiquito reads: 'Unfortunately, we closed our doors for the final time on August 26.

'Wishing everyone the very best, The Chiquito Team.'

It is unknown what the two buildings will be used for in the future.
