A former bar and lounge that has been vacant since 2020 could be converted into a learning centre under new plans.

An application submitted to Ipswich Borough Council outlines the intention to convert Luna Bar and Lounge in Falcon Street into a learning centre.

There will be no changes to the external appearance of the building, other than a new sign.

The building, which was meant to go to auction, was bought prior to that stage last month.

It was purchased by a franchise of Kip McGrath Education Centres, meaning Ipswich could be its latest centre to open, having 270 already around the country.

The application states: "Our goal is to help children in Ipswich and boost their learning confidence.

"We do this through weekly 60-80 minute tutoring sessions that are personalised for every student.

"Every one of our tutors is a qualified teacher and our teaching material is in line with the national curriculum."

Planning has already been approved to convert the first floor of the building for residential use, but under the new plans, the first floor would be used as the teaching area, while the ground floor as a reception with toilets and a kitchen.
