A new three-bedroom home will soon be built in Lakeside Close, near Stonelodge Park, Ipswich.

An application was received in June to demolish the garages on land between numbers 16 and 18 Lakeside Close, in the Sprites area of Ipswich.

A previous application was submitted last year, which suggested creating two new homes. However, following feedback about the lack of front gardens these homes would have and their close proximity to their neighbours, this latest application is for a detached, three-bedroom house.

A design and access statement explained that the garages which currently occupy the land would be demolished, but that car parking would be retained for their neighbouring properties at numbers 16 and 18.

A letter submitted to the council by solicitors at Solomon Taylor and Shaw LLP confirmed that the garages are “not associated with the occupancy of the surrounding houses”. The letter also said that the garages are mainly used for storage, being too small to accommodate most modern cars.

The ground floor will have a combined kitchen and dining area, a living room, a utility room, a downstairs bathroom and a bedroom-cum-study.

A bathroom and the two remaining bedrooms will be located on the first floor.

These plans were approved by Ipswich Borough Council on October 9.
