A man who sent nude pictures to an officer posing as a 14-year-old boy and a man who had a “massive library” of indecent images and movies of children were among those jailed in Suffolk this week.
Dean Carey
Dean Carey, 52, of Foxhall Road in Ipswich, was described by Judge Richard Kelly as having an “entrenched pattern of predatory behaviour towards children”.
Earlier this year, Carey made contact with an undercover police officer posing as a 14-year-old boy on Grindr earlier this year.
He sent the undercover police officer a naked picture of himself, asked the decoy child to send him a picture of him in his underwear and school uniform and discussed meeting up with him.
Carey was previously jailed in 2020 for four years for inciting males under 16 to engage in sexual activity.
During the trial in 2020 he admitted to exchanging messages with a 13-year-old boy and 14-year-old boy and meeting a boy under the age of 16.
Carey was released from custody in September last year and after just four months he committed his latest offence.
Judge Kelly described Carey as a “dangerous and predatory” offender at Ipswich Crown Court.
He was jailed for 40 months for attempted sexual communication with a child and attempted breach of a sexual harm prevention order.
In addition to being jailed, Carey was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and ordered to sign the sex offenders register.
Benjamin Waldron
Benjamin Waldron, 49, was jailed for 13 years in 2012 for raping two schoolboys and made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for life.
In 2022, he tried to stop public protection officers from looking at his phone and the screen was damaged during the struggle.
Officers seized the phone and computer equipment and found 57 indecent images of children and eight videos in the most serious level A category.
A total of 264 images and one video were also found in category B and 423 indecent images were in the least serious level C category.
Waldron, formerly of Haverhill but now of Jaguar Road, Norwich, admitted six offences of making indecent images of children and two offences of breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
He was sentenced to 28 months in jail at Ipswich Crown Court this week.
Judge Emma Peters said: “Of grave concern is that despite a lengthy period in custody you seem to have gone back to your former proclivities of enjoying seeing young boys being sexually abused.”
Kyle Wiggins
Kyle Wiggins, 26, of Clapgate Lane in Ipswich, was sentenced after he “stalked, harassed, gaslighted, intimidated, emotionally blackmailed and love-bombed” a 26-year-old woman.
The woman said Wiggins was obsessed with her and had formed a delusion they had a life together after they had had a brief relationship in 2017 which resulted in the birth of a child.
“I have never been in a relationship with him and never will be,” she said.
Wiggins was found guilty of stalking the victim between October, 2022 and April, 2023 at Ipswich Crown Court earlier this year.
Judge David Wilson said Wiggins had brought “misery” to the victim’s life and had repeatedly failed to heed warnings to stay away from her.
Wiggins was jailed for 40 months and banned from contacting the victim and her family for 10 years at Ipswich Crown Court.
