With summer upon us following the start of June, sunny days and hot weather should be making an appearance across Ipswich and surrounding areas.

Nothing can beat enjoying a nice meal while basking in the sun.

Here are five of the best restaurants for outdoor dining in and around Ipswich.

1. The Last Anchor

Located on the Ipswich Waterfront, The Last Anchor serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The evening menu includes a range of small plates, loaded burgers and fries, and sharing platters to enjoy with a group.

2. The Woolpack

The pub has a large courtyard and pub garden to sit in when the weather is warm.

Our editor Matthew visited earlier this year and said he ate "one of the better burgers" he's ever had at an Ipswich pub.

3. Fynn Valley Terrace

Fynn Valley Terrace has a cafe which is open daily and offers breakfast, brunch and a selection of coffees, cakes and scones.

It has and outdoor terrace and panoramic windows overlooking the golf course.

4. The Brook Inn

The Brook Inn is a country pub and restaurant on the outskirts of Ipswich.

It specialises in its gluten-free options on the menu and also has a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options.

5. Bistro on the Quay

With its outdoor terrace, Bistro on the Quay is a recognisable place for outside dining on the Ipswich Waterfront. 

As well as an a la carte menu, the restaurant also has a set three course menu for lunch and dinner.
